About Husky Puppies

A Husky Pups Five Senses

Did you know that husky puppies can detect movement at a greater distance than we can, but they can’t see as well up close. This is quite evident in our house when the mail man is coming. Our puppies hear him when he’s a few doors down the block. They can also see better in less light, but they have trouble when it comes to distinguishing colors. Just like wolves, a Siberian husky’s ability to see better with less light is an adaptation that gives them the ability to be effective hunters at night.

Husky puppies can also hear about four times better than we can. They especially hear very high-pitched sounds well. A lot of dog trainers use a high pitched whistle when they are training husky pups. The high pitched niose can be bothersome to a odg and it really gets their attention.

A dog’s nose is his greatest sensory organ. Most dogs, including husky puppies, have the ability to follow a trail that’s weeks old. It’s no wonder why law enforcement uses dogs to track down criminals. Certain dog breeds, especially in the hound family, even have the ability to track down a person under water!

While some can be picky eaters, dog’s have fewer taste buds than we do, so they’re more likely to try anything. Most dog food and dog treats are actually bland simply because they can’t taste as much as we can. Husky puppies. like all puppies, will just continue to eat, even if what they are eating isn’t all that tasty. This is why it’s so important to monitor your husky pups eating habits when they are young.

Dogs are social animals and they love to petted, groomed and played with. Because of their thick coat, husky puppies will have to be brushed often. Watch your pups face as you are brushing them. They will be thrilled!

Let’s start by discussing how you can prepare before you bring your new husky puppy home. Husky puppies, like all puppies that are being introduced into a new environment, will most likely be frightened at first. You can get a few things before your husky puppy comes home make their transition more comfortable.

The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure that you have somewhere for your new puppy to sleep. Husky puppies usually howl when they are frightened and you’ll probably notice this at night when it’s time for bed. It would be a good idea to get your husky puppy a nice dog crate to sleep in. Your puppy’s crate will eventually become a comforting place for them to be and you’ll notice that they will not cry as much when they are in their crates. Crate training your husky puppy is something that you should try and start form the very beginning. You can find plenty of dog cages online or you visit your local pet store. I would recommend getting a large dog cage because husky puppies grow up to be big dogs and if get a large dog cage to begin with, you won’t have to buy another one down the line. You can line your puppy’s new house with a an old blanket to keep them comfortable.

Aside from the dog crate it’s important that you have a few other items before you bring your new husky puppy home. Make sure you have a water bowl, a food bowl, a leash, and plenty of chew toys. You can find a variety of all of these dog supplies online or again you can just visit your local pet store.

FYI- We recently started using a new kind of dog bowl system. We always placed our husky’s bowls on a mat on the floor until our vet recommended that we use a bowl stand. It reduces the amount of stress put on your dog’s neck and it makes it much more comfortable for them while they are eating.

Healthy Weight Loss Tip: Walking a Dog Is Great Exercise

For those of you who are interested in exercising more, but would rather find exercises that are fun or the activity you are doing doesn’t seem like exercise then I got a great tip for you…buy a dog and take it for a walk. It is a great source of exercise and bonding opportunity with your dog but also with your neighbors. Here are some weight loss benefits or walking a dog.

Benefit #1: Burn Some Much Needed Calories

This one is sort of obvious, but walking a dog for roughly 30 minutes will burn around 300 to 400 calories. Combined with a healthy diet you can speed up your metabolism to really set the tone for future exercise routines.

Benefit #2: Lower Legs Are Strengthened Without Much Strain.

I have a buddy who allowed me to walk his Siberian husky puppies from time to time and I could not believe how much I felt it in my calves and shins. It worked my lower leg so much that when I finally decided to start running I rarely had an issue with shin splints or calf strain because my lower legs were able to handle my weight and the extra work. The quickest thing to get injured or strained for beginners is their lower legs, so it is a good idea to do some prep work before jumping into an intense workout routine.

Benefit #3: Dogs Are a Reliable Workout Partner

I have had many flaky workout partners over the years, but every dog I have ever owned was more than happy to go on a walk with me. In fact, I had a few that insisted on it even if I didn’t want to. In fact, my friend’s huskies came to expect walks from me whenever I stopped by that I couldn’t relax with my buddy until I took them for a little walk. They were great dogs and I really have to say Siberian Huskies make great pets.

Benefit #4: Dogs Help You to Life an Active Lifestyle

My last major point is that dogs keep you busy by having to take them outside to playing with them for a spell each day. They crave attention and that attention can be very helpful in helping you avoid being lazy. Dogs have a ton of energy so I suggest feeding off it and make their energy your energy.
