Siberian Husky Adoption

Siberian Husky Adoption

Adopting a pet is one of the most rewarding experiences. If you have been looking for husky puppies for sales I would urge you to investigate Siberian husky adoption before you go ahead and make any decisions. Husky pups are a very popular pet and I’m sure that you would be able to find a reputable husky breeder that has healthy husky puppies for sale. However, the number of huskies that have been abandoned and need loving homes as well is one the rise.

The poor economy has had a major effect on many pet owners. Record numbers of animals are turning up in animal shelters and rescue groups across the country because of these hard times. People are losing jobs, and even worse, they are losing their homes.  Unfortunately these circumstances are forcing more and more people to have to give up their family pets.

Pet adoption is also on the rise because families who are interested in getting a new puppy or dog are turning to shelters and rescues simply because it is cheaper than purchasing a puppy. More importantly, you will be  saving a huskies life!  The numbers for Siberian husky adoption hit an all time high last month, and it seems that these numbers will continue to grow. Siberian Husky Rescue groups are seeing huskies of all ages being brought in.

An adult husky may be a better choice for a family who doesn’t really have the time to train husky puppies. Puppies are a lot of work and if you don’t have the time, adopting an adult dog is much better option. There are some excellent resources available to you if you are interested in Siberian husky adoption. Browse through the following sites and you’ll be able to locate husky puppies, adolescent huskies, and adult huskies for adoption. You can also call your local animal shelter and ask them if they have any huskies. Some shelters will put you on a list and they’ll give you a call when a husky is brought in.

Adopt an Adult Husky or Adopt a Husky Puppy?

So, you have been thinking about adopting a Husky puppy. While I think that this is a great idea, I think I might have a better one for you! If you have your heart set on adopting a Husky puppy, I would urge you to consider rescuing an adult Husky over a husky puppy. Not I think there is anything wrong with adopting husky puppies, it’s just that husky puppies usually have a much better chance of being adopted than an adult husky does.  Let’s be honest, husky puppies are only puppies for a few months anyway. Eventually they’ll grow up to be adult huskies. It’s important that you realize that caring for a puppy is a lot of work. Puppies require a lot of time and patience.

One of the best reasons why I think that adopting an adult dog is the better way to go is the fact that most adult dogs living in shelters are already housebroken!

One of the first things you need to consider before adopting a Husky puppy, is figuring out how much time your new puppy will be spending alone. If you work long hours then getting a puppy might not be the right choice for you. You’ll have to think about your work schedule. You’ll want to calculate how many hours you will be gone at one given time? It’s imperative that you understand that puppies need a lot of attention, especially during potty training! In fact, in the beginning puppies always require your constant attention. One of the most important aspects of house breaking husky puppies is consistency. Preventing as many accidents as possible is the key to success. When a puppy soils the carpeting, it will be much more difficult to train them not to go in that spot. The problem is that their scent is there. Although we humans can’t smell it, your puppies will!

The rule of thumb is as follows: most puppies can usually hold their bladders for one hour for every month they have been alive. So if you have a three month old puppy, then they should be able to hold their bladder for about three hours. If you know that your puppy will alone for long periods of time, you can most likely expect accidents to occur often. Before you adopt a husky puppy, it would be a good idea to think about the task of housebreaking a puppy. You might want ask yourself if you will really have enough time and patience to train a puppy because it is a lot of work!

If you adopt an adult husky you probably won’t be faced with this problem. Adult huskies have a fully developed bladder and most adult dogs are already house broken. It’s not uncommon for shelter dogs to already be house trained. Most Husky rescue groups usually make sure that their adult dogs are housebroken before they available for adoption. One of the perks of adopting an adult husky is that you’ll be able to leave your new dog at home without worrying about whether or not they will have an accident while you are gone. Even if they aren’t housebroken, it is usually easier to housebreak adult huskies. Husky puppies have to grow up and their bladders have to develop before they are capable of holding it in.

There are so many other reasons why it would be easier to adopt an adult husky rather than choosing to adopt a husky puppy. You may want to think about things like teething, the cost of vaccinations and training your puppy.

Adopt Husky Puppies In Your Area

If you are thinking about adopting husky puppies you should really check out adoptapet.com I know I have talked about this website before, but it really is a great resource that can you find your forever friend.

It doesn’t matter where you are located. All you need is an Internet connection and you are in business. What’s even better, is the site allows to search for a puppy or dog by breed. A friend of mine wanted to adopt two husky puppies, so I told her about this site. All she had to do was type in the word “Siberian Husky”, type in area she wanted to search and her zip code. She just clicked a button and within in seconds she had access to dozens of huskies who were looking for new home.

Another great feature of the website is that it gives you a pretty detailed background on each puppy or dog that is available for adoption. It is very important that you know where a puppy or dog is coming from before you decide to adopt. You should be aware of their previous owners, living conditions and behaviors. Unfortunately some animals are coming from poor conditions and they may not be suitable for all potential adopters. Many times homeless animals have been abused and they may need a lot of extra love and attention when entering a new home. They may not be good with children or other animals so it’s important to know these things before adopting an animal. A large percentage of the puppies and dogs that end up in shelters don’t have any of these issues.

If you are considering adopting husky puppies or an adult husky it would wise to know their background. Huskies are a large breed and they do require exercise and grooming, so they are not the right dog for everyone.
